The Atlanta Metro Export Challenge (Atlanta MEC) is a year-long program to assist metro Atlanta companies in their global business development efforts.
Since its implementation in 2016, the program has supported more than 100 metro Atlanta businesses with over half a million dollars in financial support and counseling.
Funding Information
Through the program, selected companies receive a $5,000 reimbursement grant that can be used for expenses related to their international business growth. They also benefit from a tailored mentorship program to assist in the development of global sales plans and go-to market strategies.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for grant funding, an authorized representative of the company must certify that the applying company is eligible to receive an Atlanta MEC grant under all of the following elements of SME eligibility:
• Small Business Administration Standards: Company complies with Small Business Administration (SBA) size standards found at 13 C.F.R. Part 121.
• Number of Full-time Employees: Company has at least two employees.
• Years In Business: Company has been in business on or before May 17, 2020.
• Location: Company is registered in the State of Georgia with HQ in the Atlanta Metropolitan Statistical Area.
• Content Requirement: Company’s products and/or services are at least 51% U.S. content (as proportion of total COGS).
• Necessary Documentation: Company is a for-profit business and has a valid W-9 and a Company Control Number with the Georgia Secretary of State.
Companies that are certified as a women business enterprise (WBE), a minority business enterprise (MBE) or a veteran-owned business are especially encouraged to apply.
