The focus is on helping businesses to recover from lockdown and prepare for safe reopening. The larger amounts are targeted at businesses with greater fixed costs and those likely to take longer to get back on their feet.
Funding Information
Under Phase 6 of the Council’s ABSG scheme (from April 2021), one-off grants up to £7,500 are available to eligible businesses in Cambridge.
Who is the ABSG (Phase 6) scheme for?
It is for:
• Applicant category 6A: Non-rate paying business in commercial premises or specific workspace in Cambridge that provides in-person services for the general public (as its main service) in the hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym and sport sectors but does not qualify for a Restart Grant.
o A one-off grant of between £3,000 and £7,500 is available for April 2021 onwards, depending on annual rent.
• Applicant category 6B: Business in commercial premises or specific workspace in Cambridge, not qualifying for a Restart Grant, that also falls outside ABSG applicant category 6A. (That is, businesses in commercial premises that do not provide in-person services as their main service and/or are not in the hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym & sports sectors).
o A one-off grant of between £2,000 and £5,000 is available for April 2021 onwards, depending on annual rent or rateable value.
• Applicant category 6C: Business run from home in the city, where the applicant is registered for paying the council tax.
o A one-off grant of £2,000 is available for April 2021 onwards.
• Applicant category 6D: Licensed market traders and street traders operating in Cambridge.
o A one-off grant of £700 is available for April 2021 onwards.
• Applicant category 6E: Taxi drivers licensed with the Cambridge City Licensing Authority to operate in Cambridge.
o A one-off grant of £700 is available for April 2021 onwards.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, businesses will need to:
• be trading;
• not be in liquidation, dissolved, struck off or subject to a striking off notice; and
• comply with the new Covid-19 grant subsidy allowance rules.
