Northumberland County Council is using Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) funding to ensure that more businesses who would otherwise not be eligible for the Government’s Restart Grant can access financial assistance as coronavirus restrictions across the country are eased.
This will help businesses in the non-essential retail, personal care, hospitality, accommodation, leisure and gym sectors which do not have a rateable value, plus direct suppliers to the hospitality, hotel, bed and breakfast and leisure sectors.
There are two strands to the ARG Restart Grant as follows:
• Strand One – to support non-essential retail, personal care, B&Bs and direct suppliers to the hospitality, hotel, bed and breakfast and leisure sectors
• Strand Two – to support hospitality, accommodation, leisure, and gym businesses
Funding Information
• Strand One
o Rateable value or rateable value proxy: Under 15,000 – £2,667
o Rateable value or rateable value proxy: 15,001 to 50,999 – £4,000
o Rateable value or rateable value proxy: 51,000 or over – £6,000
• Strand Two
o Rateable value or rateable value proxy: Under 15,000 – £8,000
o Rateable value or rateable value proxy: 15,001 to 50,999 – £12,000
o Rateable value or rateable value proxy: 51,000 or over – £18,000
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for a grant, businesses must satisfy the following criteria:
• Be located in and operating within Northumberland.
• Not be classed as ‘home-based’*.
• Have a minimum of £200 per month non-residential fixed property costs*.
• Have been severely impacted by local and/or national restrictions
• Have been trading on 1 April 2021.
• Not be eligible for a grant under the Local Restrictions Support Grants or Restart Grant.
• Be classed as non-essential retail, hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care or a gym business, (Annex C of the Government’s Restart Grant guidance gives a more indicative list of businesses that fall into scope of this grant scheme. You can read this at the link below.) Or be a direct supplier to the hospitality, hotel, bed and breakfast or leisure sectors.
• For businesses in the hospitality, hotel, bed and breakfast and leisure sectors they must have been providing services in person to customers from the premises; occupying nonresidential* business premises without a Rateable Value, or be registered B&Bs.
• Not be in administration, insolvent or have a striking-off notice against them.
• Not breach subsidy rules if they were to receive a grant payment under this scheme.
*With the exception of registered B&Bs.
