The North Tyneside Council is currently delivering National Lockdown grants, on behalf of Government.
These grants are to support businesses with fixed commercial property costs which have been legally forced to close during the various periods below, and those in the hospitality, leisure and accommodation sectors (or supplying businesses in these sectors) that were severely impacted by local restrictions and/or national lockdowns.
The following grants are available to apply for:
16 Feb – 31 Mar 2021 (extension of National Lockdown 3 payments).
Funding Information
• Businesses occupying hereditaments with a rateable value of £15,000 or under: £2,096
• Businesses occupying hereditaments with a rateable value of £15,001 to £50,999: £3,143
• Businesses occupying hereditaments with a rateable value of £51,000 or above: £4,714
Eligibility Criteria
Business must be able to demonstrate that they have been severely impacted to qualify for grant support. The scheme is to cover fixed business costs and businesses should not receive more income than they would have received without local restrictions being in place – in such cases, business will not be eligible or would receive a reduced payment. The Government guidance gives the Council discretion over the grant scheme, and its decisions regarding the scheme will be final.
The following hospitality, accommodation and leisure businesses may be eligible to apply for all periods of local and national restrictions:
• Hospitality, accommodation and leisure businesses which occupy commercial premises and are listed as the business rates payer.
• Hospitality, accommodation and leisure businesses which occupy shared commercial premises and are not the business rates payer.
• Businesses that directly supply to hospitality, accommodation and leisure businesses for the majority of their income.
The following businesses will be eligible to apply for periods where they were required to close:
• Businesses listed as the business rates payer of commercial premises in North Tyneside which are required to close due to national ‘lockdown’ restrictions or Local Covid Alert Level ‘Very High’ restrictions.
• Businesses which occupy shared commercial premises and are not the business rates payers and are required to close due to national ‘lockdown’ restrictions or Local Covid Alert Level ‘Very High’ restrictions.
