The City of Melville is seeking applications for Night Time Activation Grant to support businesses, creatives and not-for-profits to develop new projects that support local night time economy and activate community hubs after dark.
They encourage trialling new events, activities and initiatives to spark an increased variety of night time business offerings and programmed activities in commercial precincts.
Funding Can Be Used For
Funds can go towards:
• Programming to encourage later trading hours.
• Revitalising hospitality venues with new activities at night (matched funding is required for capital equipment).
• Coordinated activities between a group of businesses within a precinct.
Eligibility Criteria
• Small businesses, not-for-profit organisations and creative professionals are eligible to apply.
• Projects must be new initiatives.
• Projects must be in the City of Melville.
• Wages will not be funded.
• Maximum total funding per applicant is $5,000.
• Quotes are required for items over $500, two quotes are required for quotes over $2,000.
• There can only be one applicant per project.
• Grant recipients are required to acquit the grant and report on activities by March 2022, with the inclusion of receipts for all expenditure, photos of your project, and a short report.
• Projects may require permits, however some trading permits can be waived for the duration of the project. Please contact us to discuss what is required for your idea.
• If fees for a permit are required for your project, this can be included in the budget.
• Capital equipment requires matched funding (e.g. sound equipment purchase, sound proofing, hanging rails).
Selection Criteria
Priority will be given to projects that:
• Activate or enhance neighbourhood places at night.
• Show potential for activation beyond the life of the grant funded activity.
• Are new ideas, or build on an existing model.
• Have a clear and well thought out budget.
• Have a clear and well thought out project plan.
• Demonstrate the applicant’s ability to undertake the project.
