Funded by the Victorian Government’s new Community Activation and Social Isolation (CASI) initiative, the purpose of the Mildura Rural City Council’s quick turnaround Community Activation Funding – For Business funding, is to fund businesses to provide free or low cost sport, recreation or arts programs or activities to encourage community who have been impacted by social isolation to come together to participate and to connect again. The purpose of this funding is to connect people with each other and to bolster support through these connections.
Businesses who offer sport, recreation or arts programs and activities are invited to apply.
Examples of programs and activities that could be delivered are a dance group in the Mall, yoga down along the river, a children’s music class in Ouyen, a boot camp in Merbein, an art class in Murrayville or a belly dancing class at Lake Cullulleraine.
Target Audience
A particular focus will be providing programs for our most vulnerable community members and those who have been most socially isolated through the pandemic. This may include;
• older people
• people with a disability
• social housing tenants
• Aboriginal Victorians
• carers
• people from CALD groups
• recently arrived migrants and refugees
• people in the LGBTQI+ community
• single parents
• youth
• people experiencing financial hardship
Funding Information
Amounts of up to $10,000 will be available for each application based on the eligibility criteria.
Eligibility criteria
The proposed activity or program must align with the following criteria as set out in the application:
• Provide a sport, recreation or arts program or activity that will allow people to participate and connect with others
• Deliver a program or activity to most vulnerable community members and those most impacted by COVID-19 as detailed in the target audience section of these guidelines
• Be able to deliver programs and activities across the Municipality in visible community locations where possible
• Demonstrate how being part of this program or activity may have a long term impact on social isolation and community connection for the participant.
Who Can Apply
They invite local businesses to consider applying for this funding if;
• You are a sport, recreation or arts based business or any other business that aligns with the guidelines
• You can deliver a program or activity to community for free or at a low cost if funded
• You are able to deliver your program/activity at various towns and places throughout the Municipality before December 31 2021
• Out of all applications approved for this funding round, they have a benchmark of funding at least 80% of businesses that are based locally within the Mildura Rural City Council Local Government area
• You are able to attach proof of Business Public Liability Insurance of up to $10 million.
