Scarborough Borough Council is seeking applications for its Local Restrictions Support Grants (Closed) for businesses that are liable to pay Non-Domestic Rates (including if your bill shows 100% relief) and you were mandated to close due to the national restrictions imposed from 5 January 2021.
Businesses subject to national restrictions from 5 November 2020 to 2 December 2020 and from 5 January 2021 onwards may be entitled to financial support through the Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed) scheme.
Note the terminology “closed” refers to the government’s name for the scheme and is not a reference to unavailability of the scheme.
Amount of funding available to businesses
The amount depends on the rateable value of the qualifying premises. Payments will cover the above four-week period under The Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed) Scheme.
• Rateable value of premises: £15,000 or under
o LRSG (Closed): £1,334
• Rateable value of premises: £15,001 to £50,999
o LRSG (Closed): £2,000
• Rateable value of premises: £51,000 or above
o LRSG (Closed): £3,000
Eligibility Criteria
Grants under this scheme are available to businesses that:
• Are based in Scarborough borough
• Are rated and assessed for Non-Domestic Rates (business rates) purposes – you will need your business rates account reference to apply
• Were operating prior to national restrictions being imposed
• Have been ordered to stop operating by the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020 or are operating in a substantively reduced way due to restrictions (such as restaurants or pubs running take-away services or shops running click & collect)
• You intend to resume business operations once restrictions are relaxed from the property you received the grant for
This grant cannot be awarded where:
• The business is not rated for Non-Domestic Rates (business rates) purposes
• The business has not been ordered to stop operations during national restrictions
• The business was not operating prior to national restrictions being imposed
