Southwark Council has announced a Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed) scheme. The extension covers the 44 day period from 16 February to 31 March 2021.
This grant is for businesses that were mandated to close due to national restrictions imposed as of 5 January 2021. It applies to businesses in the non-essential retail, hospitality, personal care, sports facilities and leisure sectors.
Eligible businesses will receive the following one off payment based on their rateable value:
• Scheme: Local restrictions support grant (closed)
• Period: 16 February 2021 – 31 March 2021
• Business circumstances: Pays business rates and mandated to close – aimed at non-essential retail, leisure, personal care, sports facilities and hospitality businesses.
• Rateable values & Amounts
o Rateable value: £15k or less
Amount: £2096
o Rateable value: £15,001 and less than £51k
Amount: £3143
o Rateable value: £51k and above
Amount: £4714
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to claim your business must:
• occupy the property on which it pays business rates
• have been told by the government to close due to national restrictions imposed as of 5 January 2021
• be trading the day before national restrictions came into force
Who is not eligible?
• businesses that were in administration, insolvent or where a striking off notice has been made
• businesses that have exceeded the permitted subsidy allowances
• businesses that have chosen to close but have not been required to close as part of national restrictions
• businesses whose substantive business is a takeaway
