The London Borough of Havering is seeking applications for its Business Innovation Grant to provide match funding for businesses wishing to diversify or adapt trading to be covid-secure and aid covid recovery.
The Business Innovation Grant provides match funding for micro businesses with 10 employees or fewer wishing to diversify or adapt trading to become Covid-secure, build resilience and sustainability, and recover from restrictions.
Acceptable proposals must seek to achieve one of the following objectives.
• Making your business more resilient to economic shocks – by investing in click and collect ecommerce functionality.
• Diversifying your service and product offer – investing in equipment to deliver complementary products and services or even to pivot your entire business model.
• Improving the way you deliver your services or manufacture products or purchase supplies – invest in production of your goods or services earlier in your supply chain, or adding value to your offerings and upselling.
• Improving your competitiveness – by improving quality and customer satisfaction.
• Measures to make your premises Covid secure – Sneeze screens, contactless payment provision, and other Covid secure measures.
Funding Information
Total project costs must be within the range of £2,000 and £200,000, with grants awarded at a maximum of £20,000 or 80 per cent of eligible costs, whichever is lower.
Criteria
• Applicants must be able to prove their status as a legitimate business which was trading on the 17 October 2020, and must also demonstrate that they have a main trading base within Havering from which the bulk of business activity takes place.
• A registered office alone with an address in Havering will not be sufficient to qualify for this grant.
• Businesses must have confirmation that the grant has been approved prior to making any contractual commitment.
• Grant is payable upon receipt of paid invoices for agreed work.
• Grant offers will only be held open for a maximum of 13 weeks to allow for the project to be completed.
• In total, £1m of additional grant has been allocated to the re-opening of the Business Innovation Fund, and applications will be dealt with on a first come, first served basis.
