The Watford Borough Council is seeking applications for its Additional Restrictions Grant.
Funding Information
For businesses that fully meet the eligibility criteria, grants will be paid out as follows.
• Businesses paying business rates as the registered account holder:
o For business occupying property with a rateable value of £15,000 or less, a cash grant of £1,000;
o For business occupying property with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000, a cash grant of £2,000;
o For business occupying property with a rateable value of £51,000 or above, a cash grant of £3,000.
• Businesses that do not pay business rates:
o For business occupying property with a fixed annual rental cost of £15,000 or less, a cash grant of £1,000;
o For business occupying property with a fixed annual rental cost over £15,000 and less than £51,000, a cash grant of £2,000;
o For business occupying property with a fixed annual rental cost of £51,000 or above, a cash grant of £3,000.
The grants will be paid monthly for the 5-month period December 2020 to April 2021.
Which businesses will benefit?
The following businesses may be eligible:
• Businesses required to close from 16 December 2020 which do not pay business rates, which would otherwise have been eligible for LRSG, but have fixed rental costs for business premises.
• Businesses which supply the retail, hospitality, and leisure sectors, and trade over 50% of their turnover in these sectors if they are not in receipt of or eligible for the LRSG.
• Businesses in the tourism and events sectors if they are not in receipt of or eligible for the LRSG.
• Hotel and bed & breakfast businesses which are classed as domestic and subject to Council Tax if they are not in receipt of or eligible for the LRSG.
Businesses which meet these criteria will need to show they:
• Were trading prior to 16 December 2020 and continue to trade today;
• Have experienced a significant fall in income as a result of lockdown or Covid-19 restrictions on trading;
• Occupy property in which it pays business rates to Watford Borough Council (and is the ratepayer);
• Or, if not business rate payers, have fixed rental costs for business premises;
• Bed & breakfast premises must be registered with the council.
