The West Berkshire Council will provide 'Restart Grants' of up to £6,000 per premises for non-essential retail businesses, and up to £18,000 per premises for hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym businesses.
This will provide the cash certainty to plan ahead and safely start trading again over the coming months.
Funding Information
Businesses will receive one of the following grants per premises, depending on rateable value:
Strand one: non-essential retail businesses:
• Businesses with a rateable value of £15,000 or under will receive a payment of £2,667
• Businesses with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000 will receive a payment of £4,000
• Businesses with a rateable value of exactly £51,000 or over will receive a payment of £6,000
Strand two: hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym businesses:
• Businesses with a rateable value of exactly £15,000 or under will receive a payment of £8,000
• Businesses with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000 will receive a payment of £12,000
• Businesses with a rateable value of exactly £51,000 or over will receive a payment of £18,000
West Berkshire Council will commence processing these grants in April.
Criteria
• In order to be eligible a business must pay businesses rates for their premises that is used mainly or wholly for providing goods, services or experiences to visiting members of the public in-person. Businesses that were legally allowed to continue providing an in-person customer service throughout restrictions will not be eligible for the Restart grant.
• Restart grants will be distributed automatically to eligible businesses, so businesses should only apply if they are eligible and have not received any grant funding from the Council to date.
