If you are an individual or a small team that would like to develop a new product or service using data or data-driven technology, you can apply for funding of up to £12,000 to support your work.
The Creative Informatics is accepting applications for its Resident Entrepreneur projects to support the development of data-driven products and services in Edinburgh and Southeast Scotland.
The Resident Entrepreneurs programme is funded through the City Deal Data Driven Innovation (DDI) Initiative and is open to applicants from Edinburgh and all six of the Edinburgh and Southeast Scotland city regions (Edinburgh, Midlothian, East Lothian, West Lothian, Fife, and Scottish Borders).
As a Resident Entrepreneur, you will have access to:
• Up to £12,000 of grant funding (VAT exempt)
• A mentor via the Creative Edinburgh Mentorship Scheme.
• The Edinburgh Innovations Enterprise Toolkit
• Support and signposting to relevant opportunities from Edinburgh Innovations and the Creative Informatics team
• Invitations to participate in and present at Creative Informatics events
• A paid for membership to FutureX Plus, including access to all FutureX events.
Eligibility Criteria
• Resident Entrepreneurs can be individuals, partnerships or small to medium enterprises (SMEs). You are eligible whether (currently) registered as an organisation or not.
• Resident Entrepreneurs must:
o Be working in one of the nine recognised DCMS creative industries sectors.
o Be proposing a new product, service or project to develop an idea with genuine impact for the creative industries. Proposals which also have potential to impact upon wider sectors are welcome.
o Be based in and/or be undertaking work that has impact for the creative industries within Edinburgh and/or the Edinburgh and South East Scotland Region.
o Be submitting a proposal that meets the selection criteria.
o Commit to providing accurate information about business income, spend on Research and Development (R&D), etc. as per the requirements of the application form. This includes providing accurate information regarding State Aid that is required to ensure Creative Informatics meet essential reporting and due diligence requirements.
