The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is promoting disease resilient clean energy development in developing member countries (DMCs) of ADB. Through support from the High-Level Technology Fund (HLTF) and the Clean Energy Fund (CEF) under the Clean Energy Financing Partnership Facility (CEFPF), ADB aims to test and demonstrate innovative solutions that will improve energy efficiency, mitigate the risks of virus transmission, and ensure safe working conditions in public buildings by deploying efficient, clean, and smart CAC systems.
With this Technology Innovation Challenge, ADB is asking innovators (start ups, academe, independent researchers, technology providers, and other public and private sector entities) around the world to tackle the following problem statement:
• How can innovative technologies be utilized to develop disease resilient and energy-efficient centralized air-conditioning systems in public buildings?
• Energy Efficiency
o Does the solution increase the energy efficiency of CAC systems?
• Climate Impact
o Can the solution mitigate the climate impacts of CAC systems?
• Disease Resilience
o Can the solution improve the disease resilience of CAC systems?
• Information Technology
o Does the solution make use of smart digital information control systems?
Up to USD 295,000 will be awarded to the best solution!
This international challenge aims to encourage submitters to ‘think global’ with their solutions with the objective of pilot testing and scaling your solution in 3 public buildings in one of ADB’s developing member countries (DMCs) in Asia and the Pacific.
Important: You must co-finance at least 10% of the total cost of the project from your own resources, which may include funding provided by other organizations.
This Challenge is open to the general public from ADB member countries. The Challenge is also offered to:
• Academe (University Students and Faculty)
• Research Organizations and Independent Researchers
• Technology Providers
• Other Public and Private Sector Entities
