The Healthcare Innovation and Technology Lab (HITLAB) is seeking applications for its Social Connections Challenge which is focused on Digital Health solutions for people as they age.
This event is a competition to identify emerging technologies that use innovative endeavors in digital healthcare technology to improve the state of health for people as they age on a global scale. Although people want to enjoy their longer lifespans and live fulfilling and satisfying lives, society and the marketplace have not created sufficient opportunities for the 50-plus to build and maintain social connections and engage with their communities and the broader world. The Challenge is seeking innovators that use digital technology catering to people as they age and the 50+ population, empowering them to live fun and fulfilling lives, while it also educates and encourages health & wellness. The purpose of the challenge is to bolster innovation and identify high-potential new technologies in an emerging, and quickly growing, segment of the digital health market that provide opportunity to benefit the 50+ population on a global scale.
The goal of the 2021 Challenge is to invite innovators, entrepreneurs, and start-ups, as either individuals or teams worldwide to propose novel concepts to empower the 50+ population to live fun and fulfilling lives all over the world. Concepts can focus on enhancing patient outcomes, lowering healthcare costs without compromising quality, making the management of patients more efficient, and improving their health and quality of life.

Criteria
HITLAB is looking for early stage companies with less than $500,000 in annual revenue and between 5-10 million dollars (US) in total funding. The company should have a minimum viable product. This financial criteria is not rigid. Applicants must be based in the United States.
Evaluation Criteria
HITLAB is currently accepting applications for the event, which will be judged based on the following criteria:
• Catering to those aging & the 50-plus community
• Empowering them to live fun and fulfilling lives
• Educates and encourages health & wellness
• Have less than $500,000 in annual revenue
• Have raised less than $10 million in investments
• Located in the United States
