Hospitality Restart Adaptations Grant – United Kingdom

South Norfolk Council's Hospitality Restart Adaptations Grant scheme is only for hospitality businesses, and those with hospitality offerings, to provide an opportunity to apply for funding to make alterations to their premises to allow them to reopen safely during the early stages of the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown.

For the purposes of this scheme a hospitality business is one that operates from fixed premises providing a venue for the serving and consumption of food and drink outdoors.
Premises could include pubs, hotels, restaurants, and in-house cafes, tourist attractions with outdoor seating areas or social clubs.
Funding Information
Grants of between £250 and up to £7,500 are available to support businesses with the adaptations required to improve their outdoor facilities. The fund will pay for up to 75% of the works (exclusive of VAT where the business is VAT registered).
What can be funded?
The fund will provide up to 75% funding towards any outdoor equipment/structures to help allow businesses to reopen safely, where without this award they would previously have struggled to. Acceptable spend on projects can fall under the following sections:
• Acquisition of items to allow safe opening. Items could include but are not limited to:
o outdoor furniture, heating and lighting
o insulation
o weather-shielding equipment, such as wind breaks, umbrellas
• Items to support social distancing. Items could include but are not limited to:
o temporary structures to keep waiting visitors dry or safe, such as awnings or marquees*.
o improvised waiting areas, reception areas or ticket offices
*Before installing large structures to erect or build, and especially in cases where your property is listed, correct regulatory permissions must be obtained before work takes place. In cases where you intend to use highway land, you should seek a pavement license. The grant will also cover planning permission costs as part of your application.
Eligibility Criteria
Businesses must:
• be carrying out works to a fixed business premises located in South Norfolk that is open to customers
• operate in the Hospitality, Recreation, Leisure, Culture, Tourism or Events sectors
• provide quotes for items being claimed and invoices/receipts prior to final payment
• demonstrate how their project directly assists with the reopening of their business as we move through the roadmap
• be live and have been trading when national or local restrictions came into force
• be the business that is trading from the premises. Grants will not be awarded in respect of a property which is unoccupied
• not be in administration, nor insolvent and not be subject to a Striking Off Notice
• not have exceeded the permitted subsidy limit (previously known as State Aid) in terms of support already received.
NB. These grants will not be available to national chains or town and parish councils.
Payment of the grant under this scheme is entirely at discretion, and they reserve the right to refuse, pay or query any application or grant. There shall be no right of appeal against a decision of the Council to pay, or not to pay, an award from this grant scheme.
