London Borough of Bexley is seeking applications for its Local Restrictions Support Grant arrangements.
The Government has ordered certain businesses and venues to close by law under the national lockdown. This grant fund is only for businesses who are legally ordered to close, or where the substantive element of their business is legally ordered to close. The premises must also be registered for business rates. Some examples are set out below and a full list is available at Gov UK, Closing Certain Business and Venues in England.
This is a payment for businesses forced to close due to the current national lockdown period from 16 February 2021 to 31 March 2021.
Grant Information
The grant will be between £2,096 and £4,714 depending on the rateable value of the qualifying business.
Local authorities are required to ensure that the main business activity is as declared and that the business has been required to close as part of the national restrictions:
• Hospitality
o Restaurants, cafes, public houses, bars, social clubs etc (Please note that businesses required to close are permitted to provide takeaway services and receive a local restriction support grant. Businesses providing primarily takeaway services are not entitled to support under this scheme and can remain open)
• Personal Care Services
o Nail bars, beauty and hair salons, barbers, spas, tanning salons, tattoo, piercing and massage parlours etc.
• Leisure
o Cinemas, theatres, nightclubs, bingo halls, concert halls, casinos, museums and galleries, skating rinks, bowling alleys, indoor and outdoor visitor attractions. Gyms, sports courts, dance or fitness studios, swimming pools, playgrounds or soft play areas, golf courses etc.
• Non-essential Retail
o Shops selling clothes, electronic, gifts, greetings cards, toys, books, jewellery, betting shops, adult gaming centres, travel agents, car and other showrooms, car washes etc
• Other
o Conference centres and exhibition halls, auction houses (except for livestock or agricultural equipment), outdoor markets (except for livestock markets or where food is sold). Sexual entertainment venues and hostess bars. Circuses, funfairs and fairgrounds (whether outdoors or indoors), theme parks and adventure parks and activities.
Criteria
In completing this application, you will need to declare that:
• the business was required to close and did so only due to the national restrictions announced
• the business was providing services within one of the business or service sectors prescribed
• the premises pursuant to this application, were occupied and being traded from on the day prior to the commencement of these restrictions.
• you are (or acting on behalf of) the registered business ratepayer claiming a local restriction support grant and have provided a valid business rate account/reference number.
and that:
• the payment details provided in this claim are the official business account details of the eligible business.
• the business is not in receipt of state funded support in excess of the de minimis or the current Covid-19 temporary State Aid/Subsidy framework.
• the business is not subject to insolvency, striking off or any administration proceedings
