The Campaspe Murray Business Excellence Awards are now open to any business located within the Campaspe Shire Council and Murray River Council areas.

The Awards honour local business achievements and showcase their finest local businesses and the people that make them great.

The Awards program is an opportunity for businesses to reflect on their current practices and receive recognition for a job well done. In addition, the Awards aim to inspire their community to become more involved in supporting local business and bring greater awareness to the connections between businesses, local employment, and the overall prosperity of their community.

Award Categories

  • Business of the Year
    • The Business of the Year award recognises a business that has demonstrated outstanding achievements, performance and innovation. This award is open to any business that has won an award category.
  • People’s Choice Award
    • After the initial round of judging occurs and finalists are announced, the public are invited to vote for their favourite finalist business in the People’s Choice Award. People’s choice voting starts 25 July and closes 5 September.
  • Young Entreprenur of the Year
    • Open to any person under the age of 35 who has started and is running their own successful business.
  • Best New Business
    • Open to any new business that commenced operations within the past three years.
  • Best Retail Business
    • Open to any business selling products directly to the general public.
  • Best Professional Service
    • Open to any business providing professional services to the general public or to other businesses.
  • Excellence in Manufacturing & Trade
    • Open to any business involved in manufacturing, fabricating, processing, or value-adding, or providing a trade service.
  • Employee of The Year
    • Open to any employee who has shown outstanding effort in providing exceptional value to their employer and customers.
  • Excellence in Hospitality
    • Open to any business offering hospitality, food, accommodation and/or entertainment services.
  • Best Home Based Business
    • Open to any business where the proprietor’s residence is also the principal place of business.
  • Best Agri-Business
    • Open to any business providing goods and/or services within the primary industries (viticulture, horticulture, dairy, livestock etc), or who value-add to agricultural products.
  • Best Professional Service – Community
    • Open to any not-for-profit organisation that provides a service to the community. These businesses may trade in surplus as long as no person or organisation is paid a dividend. Examples include aged care services, hospitals and educational facilities.
  • Excellence in Tourism
    • This category is open to any business offering goods, attractions or services to the visitor economy.

Benefits to applicants include:

  •  The opportunity to perform a ‘business health check’ by undertaking the application process and assessing strengths and weaknesses, prior to receiving feedback from judges.
  • The opportunity to make connections with key business people in their region.
  • Increased recognition of a business and its brand.
  • The potential to be acknowledged as a finalist or category winner, or Business of the Year.

Finalists in the 2022 Awards will receive:

  • Extensive promotion as a finalist through various media such as online, print, radio and social media
  • Business profile in the Awards Gala Dinner magazine and follow up press feature
  • Acknowledgement as a finalist at the 2022 Gala Celebration
  • Finalist decal to display in place of business
  • Finalist logo to use in own marketing
