Solving Public Problems Accelerator: Increasing Impact in Education and Learning

The SPP Accelerator is a learning and coaching program to source and develop promising projects designed to improve education, learning, and development using data.

The Increasing Impact in Education and Learning Challenge will support people who can articulate solutions to problems in learning and education, from enhancing brain development in young children, to educating people of all ages, to upskilling workers.

They are seeking powerful projects to enhance education and learning.

All participants receive #solvingpublicproblems coaching to take solutions from idea to implementation.

The SPP Accelerator includes:

Challenge Competition. The competition will source the most promising projects designed to improve education, learning, and development.

Online Coaching. Applicants, semifinalists, and finalists all receive help to develop impactful proposals. Optional coaching includes training both in using data to tackle challenges and creating implementable projects.

In-Person Training. Winners receive an all-expense paid, multi-day, in-person coaching program in Bellagio, Italy to get intensive expert mentoring and peer learning and ongoing support to realize your projects in practice. 

Eligibility Criteria

The SPP Accelerator is a global opportunity with a strong interest in having significant representation from the Global Majority.

The Accelerator is designed with both individuals and teams in mind. If you apply as a team, they ask that you submit a lead participant as the main point of contact. Nominations now open for Western Australia Innovator of the Year

Nominations are now open for the Western Australia Innovater of the Year to acknowledge and reward exceptional innovators in Western Australia who have developed an outstanding innovative product, technology or service, which is at the emerging innovation or growth phase of development.

The innovation must demonstrate an economic, social or environmental benefit to Western Australia.

Applications funded under the WA IOTY program will target market problems and realise opportunities of importance to Western Australia. It is intended that financial support will assist successful applicants to take a product, technology or service from its emerging innovation or growth phase of development to commercialisation.

Objectives

In accordance with the New Industries Fund, the objectives of the WA IOTY program are to:

  • promote and acknowledge the success of Western Australian innovators;
  • encourage co-support from industry for promotional activities;
  • activate and strengthen industry-government research collaborations;
  • engage communities throughout Western Australian regions in innovation; and

The Tackling Rural Poverty and Social Isolation Programme’s (TRPSI) Rural Business Development Grant Scheme aims to support the sustainability, recovery and development of rural micro-businesses across Northern Ireland by providing a small capital grant for the business.

The TRPSI Programme is funded by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, and this grant Programme is administered and managed by Derry City & Strabane District Council.

Newry Mourne and Down District Council: Rural Business Development Grant Scheme 2022 (UK)

Capital grants up to a maximum of £4,999 are now available to rural businesses to support the sustainability, recovery and development of micro businesses through DAERA’s Tackling Rural Poverty Social Isolation Programme (TRPSI) administered and managed by Newry Mourne and Down District Council.

San José Small Business Rent Relief Grant Program (US)

The City of San José is providing grant funding of up to $15,000 to support small businesses with outstanding rent and utility debts related to Covid-19.

The City of San José has set aside $2.75 million in federal American Rescue Plan Act funds to provide up to 300 grants to small businesses, companies, or enterprises (used interchangeably) located in San José. The maximum grant is $15,000. The purpose is to provide a grant towards the small business owner’s outstanding rent and utility debt arising from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic from March 24, 2020, through August 19, 2021.

Funding Information

The maximum grant cannot exceed $15,000. Grants will be allocated based on annual gross revenue as follows:

  • Annual Gross Receipts – Upto $1 Million
  • Grant Amount – $5,000
  • Annual Gross Receipts – Upto $2 Million
  • Grant Amount – $10,000
  • Annual Gross Receipts – Upto $3 Million
  • Grant Amount – $15,000

Eligible use of Funding

Grants must be used exclusively to cover small business owners’ outstanding rent and utility debt arising from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic from March 24, 2020 through August 19, 2021.
