Since 2012, AWE Awards have celebrated women entrepreneurs who showcase entrepreneurial spirit and exemplify perseverance, leadership, and innovation. This entrepreneur is an inspirational leader and a role model for women in business.
Alberta Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to enabling women to build successful businesses. AWE provides unique programs and services to women at all stages of business through advising, financing, mentoring, and network development.
Award Descriptions
• Emerging Entrepreneur Award
o Awarded to a female entrepreneur who has built a strong, scalable business foundation and has achieved early success with strong market potential.
• Indigenous Entrepreneur Award
o Awarded to a leading Indigenous woman entrepreneur, who has a strong business concept and demonstrates plans for future growth, long-term business viability and commitment to the community.
• Upsurge Entrepreneur Award
o Awarded to a female entrepreneur who has built a solid foundation for her business and is now experiencing rapid growth and significant expansion opportunity for her business by strengthening her leadership capacity and developing new market opportunities.
o She has a strong vision and drive and has achieved business growth by cultivating loyal and passionate brand ambassadors among her customers and employees.
• Celebration of Achievement Award
o Awarded to an exceptional female entrepreneur who has achieved recognizable success and acts as a role model for women in business. This visionary woman is an inspirational leader who has built an entrepreneurial venture in Alberta that has made a significant impact on the economy and the community.
Eligibility Criteria
AWE is looking for nominees who have demonstrated:
• Entrepreneurial spirit through perseverance, the courage to take risks, and the ability to seize opportunity
• A strong, scalable business model with plans for future growth
• A dedication to building business and leadership capacity
Nominees must own and lead an Alberta-based for-profit business.
